Electronic commerce, popularly e-commerce, is yet to reach to the desired level even after almost two decade of its inception. One of the primary reasons behind its nascent existence across India is low level of internet penetration. As of now, only 2 per cent of total Indian population has internet access and the need of the hour is a well structured broadband policy and its nation-wide strong implementation.

This is often discussed at various platforms whenever we talk about the internet and e-commerce. But at the same time the technical advancements across developed nations and in the metros of our country is slowly taking place. We are getting ready for the next level of the e-commerce i.e. new ways of the marketing with most-effective tool of internet.

There are many websites and portals offering various new-age tools to get maximum visibility online. One such tool is e-greetings (online greetings). We have been sending the e-greetings to our friends and it is the best, cheapest and quickest way to compliment each other. When we talk about the e-greetings 123greetings.com comes the first name in our mind.

123greetings.com, owned by IntraSoft Technologies Limited, is world's second largest electronic greeting cards website. The website has been witnessing consistent growth since its launch in 1997. From 36,000 unique visitors in 1998, the visitor volume rose to two million in 2001, and thereafter soared to 91 million in 2009-10, out of which 18 million visitors are from India.

With the advent of technology, e-cards of today are a lot more vivid and interactive. Innovative graphics, almost life-like animations and expressive music make e-cards more entertaining and personal than physical greeting cards. To enrich the user experience and provide more value to its visitors, 123Greetings.com launched three exciting new platforms in the last nine months.

123Greetings.com has been in existence for almost one and half decade, probably when the internet was gaining grounds in India. How has been the trend of the adaptation among the Indian internet users?

E-cards became popular immediately with the advent of the Internet. The early movers were Blue Mountain, Egreetings.com and 123Greetings.com. The segment continues to march forward and as per our estimates, an average of a billion e-cards is sent every year.
