Similar has been the approach of a company dealing in manufacturing of bags I different varieties. Making their mark in such competitive market is Saltec International. Identifying completely with rich heritage and culture of Kolkata, Rajiv Killa relied on his ingenuity of ideas and launched the enterprise in 1990.

 
Despite a humble beginning, Killa was able to surge ahead with confidence because of strong faith in his idea and innovations. He shares, “We started with just 3 machines and 10 people at hand and only fifty thousand in our kity, we diligently worked towards converting our dreams into reality.”  Today, Saltec is one of the major exporters of a wide variety of promotional, cotton & canvas and fashion bags to places as far as U.S, Europe, Middle East, Far East to mention a few.
 
Braving Currents

Reminiscing his stage of struggle, Killa says, “Post the establishment of our company, we faced the major challenge of targeting customers and receiving order for our products. To overcome this challenge, we even had to meet buyers face to face in order to provide an elaborate insight into our product offerings.” Wading against strong currents, Killa decided to participate in trade fairs which proved to be fruitful for the company. Later, with the growing need to spread its awareness in different parts of country and outside, Saltec moved to internet and got introduced to online B2B marketplace.

What makes the company stand out in the market is its entire range of products that are specifically designed keeping in mind the latest in fashion and accessories. The comprehensive range of bags that are well-known for its eco-friendly, bio-degradable and durable features require less maintenance and are easy to carry. Killa says, “Our jute bags are highly in demand by the jute industry for various purposes.”

Today, the company has not only increased its workforce to 80 with 50 odd state-of-the-art machineries to produce quality products, but has also touched a turnover of Rs. 1.5 crores.

 
Looking back, Killa fondly recalls his experience, “The journey that started a decade ago has been a remarkable one. Meeting people along the way and interacting with them gave me immense pleasure. I am satisfied with where the company is today.” It is not only the local market that has bestowed appreciation upon Saltec but also the international buyers who have complimented them for their products and expressed satisfaction for the same.
