KASSIA Becomes a Role Model As It Celebrates Its Diamond Jubilee

From mere 12 members to 4,700 members, KASSIA's journey through the years has been eventful. One of the most disciplined and well-organised associations, KASSIA is today a role model for industry associations across the country.

The celebrations' high point was that it was attended by a battery of personalities including Union Law Minister and the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa lauded the role of Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) in the industrialization of the state especially in the development of the MSMEs sector.

Yeddyurappa said “Today in Government we consult KASSIA on any issue related to Small Industry and we get objective views that enable us to take the right decisions. We hold KASSIA in high esteem for its role in the economic development of the MSME sector and we want KASSIA to grow stronger and stronger, and continue its splendid contribution. It is in realization of this aspect that I earmarked a special provision for KASSIA in the last budget. I am glad that the fund is used for expanding the scope of Business Development Services to empower the State's small entrepreneurs.”

Dedicated Involvement

The Chief Minister said KASSIA has given lot of inputs for the current Industrial Policy of the State. “I would like KASSIA to review the plan programmes in operation to ensure that the performance is on par with the objectives set.”

Yeddyurappa was all praise about the dedicated involvement of KASSIA in the recently held Global Investment Meet which proved to be a success beyond anyone's expectations. The expected and committed investments, even if it materializes in part, has great potential to unleash a new wave of industrialization which will benefit the SME sector and urged the experienced industrialists and entrepreneurs to be in readiness to fully capitalize on this wave.

The Chief Minister wished KASSIA to have the next landmark celebrations of Platinum Junilee with great gusto “to tower high over other Small Industry Associations in India and secure greater global visibility for SMEs of Karnataka.

Blue Print for Each District

Dr. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Law and Justice said for the growth of small scale industries, the State Government should come out with a blueprint for each district, taking into consideration the local socio-economic situation. “It would be difficult for small-scale industries to flourish if it is disconnected from the local socio-economic situation.”

Moily said the Centre is ready to bring in any amendment to the existing legislations for the industrial development in the State. He, at the same time, advised the Government not to allow real estate business in the name of development.

Murugesh R. Nirani, Minister for Large & Medium Industries said KASSIA has been successful in representing and responding to the genuine grass root level problems of the small industry, and help us to devise solutions for myriad problems. “This is the secret of KASSIA's progress and contribution to the Small Industries development.”
