It's Montek Singh Ahluwalia! In him has reinvested, Dr Manmohan Singh his confidence! Having set for UPA-II a socio-economic high for India, the acknowlegded economist in the Prime Minister has handpicked the equally acknowledged economist in the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission for a second term.
The co-ordination and cordiality between the two, that Montek Singh Ahluwalia's name did the rounds as the next Union Finance Minister till the cake-de-resistance of North Block went to Pranab Mukherjee an economist, too, but with the bonus points of having presented the General Budget in the Indira era of 80s.
Montek and All His Men make a reading of reassurance vs recession:

Montek Singh Ahluwalia is already on the job. On disinvestments, he told the mediapersons, that “there can be no really no objection whatsoever to disinvesting while keeping government's stake of upto 51 per cent. I think, there is a lot of scope for raising resources through disinvestments. It is very rational proposal and I would favour it”
As for stimulus in the General Budget, he explained “ I should mention that the Interim Budget already included a significant increase over the previous year. So, the 2009-2010 numbers are already substantially higher. We are looking at the expenditure absorption capacity of different sectors, then make recommendations on Plan expenditure.”
