Rural Sector is Important for the Overall Sustainable Development of India

The rural population in India accounts for around 627 million, which is exactly 74.3 percent of the total population. Dynamics of rural markets differ from other market types, and similarly rural marketing strategies are also significantly different from the marketing strategies aimed at urban or industrial consumer.
The current scenario of the rural markets in India, the growth opportunities that that exists in these rural markets and the effective marketing strategies to tap the opportunities in these markets were discussed at the seminar on 'Emerging Rural Markets of India' which was organized by Amity Business School, Amity University Lucknow Campus in Lucknow recently.
Understanding Existing Rural Environment
Maj Gen K. K. Ohri (AVSM Retd), Director General, Amity University, Lucknow Campus discussed about the emerging rural markets of India and the upcoming opportunities in this particular sector.
In his welcome address V.P. Sahi, Director, Corporate Resource Centre, Amity Lucknow Campus stressed on the importance of rural sector with respect to the overall sustainable development of economy in a developing country like India.
Prof. Yashvir Tyagi, Head, Department of Economics, Lucknow University, discussed the importance of rural marketing strategies in order to build sustainable markets in the rural areas.
