It is they who traverse long distances, often continuously and under trying conditions. Since they live on the road, they are vulnerable to various risks, either of ailments or of road accidents.'

Lafarge has several green-field projects in the pipeline, which will expand its national footprint in the coming years.

 

In addition to Cement, Lafarge is also present in India in its other businesses namely, Aggregates and Concrete and Gypsum plasterboard. Following the acquisition of L&T's Ready-mix Concrete business in 2008, Lafarge is the market leader in the segment and currently has around 80 plants across the country. The company has also setup its first Greenfield gypsum plasterboard plant at Khushkhera near Rajasthan having an annual production capacity of 10 million m² where it produces its brand of LaGyp plasterboard – which provides the best 'green' substitute for interiors and contributes to “green” accreditation of buildings under the 'LEED' system.
