 maheshAs per reports a special exchange for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) may start functioning in the near future. It will have separate Rules and Regulations to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as quite often they are not able to raise required funds –Capital- for themselves. The purpose of this separate special exchange is to help them in this objective.
 
 As per information available some changes are as follows:
 
  •  The mandatory market making by merchant bankers is likely to be brought down from the proposed three years to 1.5 years.
  • The lot size for trading on this exchange is likely to be around 50,000.This was earlier proposed at one lakh, but will be brought down.
  • Additionally, e-IPOs are likely to be permitted on this exchange.
  • Also as per information the finance ministry is considering a set of concessions, like a reduced STT for the SME exchange.
 
It is a good development. However, the final outcome shall be known in times to come as what are exactly its.
