We, the People of India and Pakistan and J&K Swear to Remain in Patriotic Comityand Secular Solidarity and Fraternity as a Confederation in Peaceful Co-Existence
Mar 2010
Every proposal should be discussed in a spirit of honour without begging for arms in this harsh world. Both countries have nuclear power and will be tempted to use it in a crisis like the Kargil battle. Statesmen on both sides harken to the havoc and lift your vision for peace and comity. Superficial solutions or talks will not work. Go to the roots and seek an understanding. Religion is the foundation of Indo-Pak dispute. Pakistan now is Islamic Republic and India is secular.
India and Pakistan were one nation before the two-nation theory gained acceptance and the British Parliament recognized a dichotomy of India and Pakistan as two separate sovereign nations and J & K separate from either but a unique territory in bitter controversy between Indo-Pak imbroglio and war. For the last over 33 years Bharat and Pakistan have been in bitter military belligerency continuing on warring terms. This situation of armed conflict has drained resources of these two third world countries with no sign of peace in prospect and every omen of aggravating discord. Jammu & Kashmir now to never ending terrorism, little battles and bloodshed and perennial sanguinary strife is visited on the land God's gift to the earth as a land of enchanting beauty and green peace but of desperate poverty. If Asia is to enjoy peace the hot dispute over J&K must be resolved and if Asia has no comity but carnage world peace itself is at stake. Neither the United Nations nor the Security Council sans nor has any single statesman with a vision has taken any positive measure to end this bleeding battle scenario and curiously the leaders of both countries (India and Pakistan) do not want other states to intervene and negotiate a settlement on fair terms. Luckily a historic moment has come when the Prime Ministers of both countries have declared openly that they will meet and talk without reservations with the great objective of restoration to cordial relations—a consummation which the world will greet with joy. To explore the various possibilities of peaceful settlement is a task of supreme global patriotic service to humanity. Why? Since nuclear weapons in the hands of both countries with America and China with a slant to Islamabad. There is enough nuclear weaponry in their arsenals to destroy peace-loving Asia. It is an urgent imperative that the war over J&K stops and a happy resolution, basically just, is woven. This article is written in that spirits not as a perfect project—no, not at all—but as an ad hoc tentative package for discussion among peoples of both sides and nations all over the earth without which peace will be a dream and solution an illusion. “There never was a good war or a bad peace. (Benjamin Franklin). This piece of earth, J&K, was under a Hindu Maharaja and a large Muslim subjects with micro-presence of pundits. Jurisprudentially, therefore J and K belong to the Indian Republic. The Maharaja has acceded to join India so too the leader Sheikh Abdullah, Head of the National Conference has endorsed the accession to India a Grand Gesture.
