Energising India: Focus Should Be On Power Needs Of Remote Areas

Renewable Energy Conference Organised by Thane Associations - TSSIA and COSIA

 

Depleting petroleum and coal stock is posing serious concerns and forcing energy experts and scientists to find alternative energy sources across the globe. It is hard fact that almost 75 per cent of total energy production of the country is being generated by the coal stock only. Nuclear energy, solar energy, hydro-energy, wind-energy, bio-gas energy, etc. have emerged as the major alternative energy sources. Some of them are being exploited in well organized manner while some others are underway to cease the energy crises.

Need and developments so far about the alternative sources have been discussed at various platforms like trade fairs, seminars and conferences. Many of large and small companies are launching various equipments to exploit the alternative energy resources even at the grassroot level, e.g. biogas plant or wind energy.

One such event on Renewable Energy – The ultimate source of survival was organized by the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) and Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) in association with Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University (JJTU) in Thane recently.

The aim was to create a deeper interaction between education and industry for a greener planet. The seminar commenced with a short film on Green awareness. Thane is one of the 32 cities selected for Green initiatives.

The chief speakers included a host of personalities from industry and academia. Shirish Deshpande, Director, Energetic Consulting Pvt. Ltd. presented cases of implemented Renewable Energy projects. Another expert Sunil Sharma spoke on Wind Power highlighting that India is the 5th largest wind power generating nation. Another speaker Swamiji spoke on the need to focus on energy needs in remote areas and use of biogas. Rajendra Ruia of ARCO group enlightened the audience about Wind Solar hybrid renewable energy system.
