If Agra is in your itinerary, and The Taj Mahal is your dream in white marble, you would now be tempted to stay on in Agra for another night. Lest you miss a delicious curry for the soul. An ageless saga of mughal romance.
The Ashok Oswal group at Agra is all set to add more value to your visit to one of the wonders of the world- The Taj Mahal, the epitome of eternal love. The 80-minute live musical theatrical extravaganza is designed to take your breath away. It will be enacted in the 585-seater Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Centre located hardly a kilometer and a half from the original heritage monument.
'Mohabbat-the-Taj' is a live show supported by latest audio-visual technology which brings out the essence of the romance that inspired the building of the Taj Mahal by Emperor Shah Jahan.
A Visual Treat
The show is a visual feast for the eyes with its ace enactment of the grandeur and splendid lifestyles of the mughal period. The most overwhelming part of this extravaganza is the climax. The world's biggest replica of the Taj Mahal emerges slowly on a lotus-shaped platform lifted by a hydraulic lift. Truly, a majestic delight.
The replica of the Taj has been done in pure Makrana marble and is embellished with the finest of details as in the original. The original Taj Mahal took the patience of 17 years and the sheer hardwork of 20, 000 craftsmen and labourers. No wonder its replica took seven years of relentless craftsmanship by 28 artisans and designers to bring alive the magic of the Taj.
The total cost of the original Taj worked out to be Rupees 4 crore, 18 lacs, 48 thousand, 426 annas and 7 pies. The mausoleum stands in the middle of the square white marble plinth called chakka which measures 328 feet, 3 inches and is 19 feet in height from the Chameli Farsh.
The tapering minarets which measure 132 feet in height at an average are three storeyed each separated by a balcony.
A Tourist's Delight
The inspiration behind this refreshingly new entertainer is to promote tourism in Agra. Mr. Ashok Jain, Managing Director of the Ashok Oswal Group feels, “For sometime we were feeling that the tourists were not getting their due, what with all kinds of restrictions on movement and photography within the Taj Mahal monument Complex.” The show will add more value to their visit and give the tourists a wholesome taste of India's rich cultural legacy.
The show has been scripted by Jalees Sherwani and directed by Mohan Singh Rathod. Lyrics have been written by Sudhakar Sharma and the lilting music has been lent by Vivek Prakash. The show has been beautifully choreographed by Kamalnath. Noted playback singers, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Suresh Wadekar, Roop Kishore Rathod, Alka Yagnik and Kavita Krishnamurthy have sung the mellifluous numbers.
Truly Majestic
To make it an awesome experience for audiences from across the globe, the show provides the opportunity of listening to the show in eight international languages through the high class personalized earphone system installed on each seat. It's ecstasy to match the mausoleum emerging in the climax with light beams dancing all over it. The Taj truly majestic as depicted in its various moods throughout the day, at dawn and at dusk.
