Argentina for better ties with India says Consul General

This remarked were expressed by Fernando L. Ras, Consul General of Argentina, Consul General of Argentina while addressing in a meet of the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) and the trade delegation from Argentina.
Ras said that Argentina was the biggest supplier of food products to the world with only small population of 40 million people but secured better growth in field of agriculture. There were tremendous opportunities for India.
Reducing Barriers
Ras said that there was no restriction of buying land. Also, under the 1968 Visa agreement, fees for transit and tourist visas had been abolished. Under the new visa agreement signed during Argentine Presidential visit in October 2009, it had been agreed that five year multi-entry business visas would be given free of cost. There are about 100 Indians in Buenos Aires of which half are those settled for over thirty years. Many are professionals working with Indian companies and multinational corporations. In the context of the growing economic progress in both India and Argentina, there were promising prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation and economic engagement in multifarious sectors in a sustained and mutually beneficial manner said Ras.
Modest Economic Relation
Vijay Kalantri, President, All India Association of Industries (AIAI) said, “Economic cooperation between the two countries so far had been modest. Several agreements for cooperation in diverse sectors have been signed between the two countries in an effort to contribute towards economic development in both countries and share mutual complementarities.”
Kalantri added that both the countries had entered into an agreement to cooperate in S&T between Department of Science and Technology of India and Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of the Argentine Republic for 2009-11.
