International Women's Day - 8 March: FIWE to Deliberate on ‘Women in Entrepreneurship’

The two-hour seminar on "Harnessing Entrepreneurial Potential of Women For Economic Growth" will deliberate on the keys issues facing the women entrepreneur sector in India.
Women entrepreneurs in India represent a dynamic segment in SMEs sectos and have broken away from the beaten track and are now exploring new vistas of economic participation with a new vigour. A great many of them have taken to entrepreneurship because of compelling urge to do something positive. They are the pace setters for other women in their quest for economic independence.
The growing important of women in our economy cannot be overemphasised. National Knowledgge Commision (NKC) has strongly recommended that Government, financial insitutions and women entrepreneur's bodies need to form a collective agenda in order to examine the potential and special needs of women entrepreneurs in order to harness the entrepreneurial potential of women for economic growth.

The seminar will focus on how to harness the entrepreneurial potential of women for economic growth and also enable the growth of women in the Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (MSME) sector and in addition family businesses.
Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs, a National-level organization, founded in 1993, is today, one of India's Premier Institutions for Women dedicated towards Entrepreneurship Development. FIWE has a large membership base of 15,000 individual members/professionals and 28 member associations spread throughout the country. The objective of the organization is to foster the Economic Empowerment of Women, particularly the SME segment, by helping them to become successful entrepreneurs and become a part of the mainstream industry.
